I initially found the garage friendly and helpful when purchasing my car. A deal had already been agreed between the garage and the finance company, and I provided all the requested information about my current car upfront.
However, when they test drove my car, they claimed it needed a new clutch. The dealer became visibly annoyed at this point. I strongly disagreed, as the car had been checked previously and the clutch had never been flagged as an issue. I had even taken it to a specialist garage who confirmed that the clutch is naturally high and nothing to worry about.
I felt uncomfortable during this interaction and, as a woman, I felt I was being spoken to in an intimidating manner, as if I wouldn’t challenge what was being said. I made it clear that I was confident in the condition of my car.
When I asked what he wanted to do next, he said he didn’t want to do anything and that the deal would still go ahead — which left me questioning why the issue was raised so aggressively in the first place. It was clear that his frustration with the finance company was taken out on me, which was unfair and unprofessional.
That said, I did leave happy with my new car, and the purchase itself was completed as agreed.
WestGrove Cars were great because the whole purchase was very straight forward and simple, was also collected from the nearest train station. Perfect dealership.
