I know very little about mechanics and spend no time at all studying cars. I use a car as a tool to get to places and to move things. That is my only interest in cars. So when I needed a car to replace one that had seen better days I was not looking forward to the experience. When I told people that I was looking to replace my car a surprising number of them said they were very pleased with their Volvo and of those several owned a XC40. So I started to look for second hand XC40s. I visited Waylands in Filton Bristol four times. The turnover of used cars took me by surprise and when I saw a car I liked by the time I telephoned the showroom it was gone! So I put a deposit on three cars and test drove two of them. I bought a 2022 XC40 B4 with fairly low mileage for its year (6200 miles) and I am very pleased with it. I am aware that a good salesperson will not leave a customer feeling pressured into buying something but I can genuinely say that at Waylands Bristol no one. made me buy it. It is all very relaxed. You can go into the showroom, make yourself a coffee, take a biscuit and if you are lucky there will be someone to show you a car but I always had to book an appointment several days in advance. The used Volvo Select cars sell themselves. In the eight weeks I was studying the website for cars, used XC40s were sold in a matter of days of appearing on the site. Do I recommend Volvo XC40? It is a bit early to say but probably yes. Do I recommend Waylands Bristol? Definitely.

I'd endorse Waylands Bristol because of their very friendly and professional service. The salesperson Abi was incredibly efficient and so easy to deal with.

The one problem I've had with the car is that whoever cleaned it put a fake floral smell in there and every time I get in to the car I have to smell it again. It is only slightly fainter than when I bought it so this will probably continue for months. I am happy with the cleanliness of the car but the smell makes it unpleasant to be in it.
Otherwise the buying experience was fine, no problems.
Your survey does not offer explanations of answers. For 'How satisfied were you with explanation of the finance packages available?' I chose the neutral option because I said I didn't want financing and Mark to my great pleasure did not pressurise me. I would have considered it disrespectful if he had gone on to explain the finance packages after I said no, and I would have asked to work with someone else. However, Mark quite rightly went on to a different topic and all was well.
When Mark and I had a misunderstanding about the configuration of the car he handled it perfectly, calling in someone else to explain how the configurations work (it turned out I was looking for an engine size that doesn't exist for the hybrid I selected). I was very happy with that.
I won't recommend Waylands to friends and family because they live in a country where people drive on the right, so they would need a car where the driver sits on the left. If a friend in the UK asked for a recommendation I would tell them I had no problems with Waylands.
